Motivation-you Better Work for it

 

 

 

MOTIVATION!!!

How many times have you heard that word before?

Let me start by saying that there are plenty of days that I am not motivated. It happens. My head is saying “Ugh! I don’t feel like working at all today” or “I’d rather watch Housewives than clean the pet fur off of the sofa.”

It’s part of life. We all have those moments. Maybe for you it’s flossing your teeth or washing off your makeup when you can hardly keep your eyes open.

Here’s a tip: Sometimes we have to motivate ourselves to do something that we don’t want to do. Going a step further, there are things that only you can motivate yourself to do.

Think of all of those people juggling working 2 jobs while starting a business. Someone going back to school to switch careers, while working and raising a family.

Our society will look at those who are self motivated and label them as dreamers, the go-getters, etc. Maybe they just find something every single day to motivate them just a tiny bit to be that go-getter.

While dancing professionally, my life was hard. Yes I was doing what I loved and really wanted to do, but I was taking college courses and working all hours of the night only to have literally a dime to my name at times.

I had to be extremely motivated (and stubborn) to keep going. Dancing taught me at a young age that I have to be the one to work for it. I had to be the one to do it. No one else was going to do this shit for me!

Of course things find a way of changing and working out somehow in time. These tough times are areas of incredible growth.

Those days where you find that shred of self motivation is leading to the big picture. Goals take discipline.

Nothing in life comes easy.

In regards to fitness and health (since this is what I mostly blog about) it should be crystal clear that no one else can or is going to do it for you. You are doing it for yourself. It takes work. It takes time. It takes sweat. It takes effort. There will absolutely be days you want to skip a workout or order pizza.

Again, you have to self-motivate. Get uncomfortable to make change.

Self-help books and podcasts can only go so far.

As I’m writing this I can hear the Britney Spear’s song Work B**ch in my head. She’s calling you out and putting you in your place. Plus it’s a damn good song to workout, dance, or motivate you!!!
